GRABEN Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 15, 2026

GRABEN ("the app", "we") is a mobile app for mapping and documenting areas during field research. This policy describes what data we process, why, and how it is handled.

1. Data that never leaves your device

If you use the app without signing in, or outside of a squad, all zones, objects, finds and photos you create are stored locally only on your device. We never receive, see, or recover this data — we simply don't have it. You can create your own backup via Settings → Data → "Export personal data"; keeping that file safe is your responsibility.

2. Data we process

We only collect data once you create an account and join a squad (a shared team). Specifically:

• Email address — for magic-link sign-in (no password) and to contact you
• Profile name — what you set, or derived from your email
• Squad content — names, GPS coordinates and descriptions of zones and objects added by you or your squadmates as part of shared work
• Photos attached to squad records

Location is used solely to place a point on the map at the moment you create a record — we do not track your movement in the background without an explicit action from you.

Separately, regardless of whether you have an account: whenever the satellite map is shown on screen, your device loads imagery directly from the map tile provider's servers (see section 3) — this is how any map works, and it happens even in guest mode.

3. Who we share data with

We do not sell data or show ads. Data is processed only by the technical providers the app needs to function:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. Squad data is stored on servers in the European Union region
• Resend — sending sign-in emails
• Sentry — crash diagnostics: technical details about the error, app version, and device. The content of your zones, objects, or finds is never included in these reports
• Esri (ArcGIS) — satellite map tile provider. When the map is displayed, your device connects directly to Esri's servers, which receive the request's IP address and the coordinates of the visible map area

Each of them processes data on our behalf and under its own privacy agreements.

4. How long we keep data

Squad data is kept for as long as the squad exists or as long as you remain a member. You can delete your own records at any time through the app.

5. Account deletion

You can delete your account yourself in the app: Settings → Account → "Delete account". This immediately removes your profile and associated content on the server. You can also reach us at support@graben.app or on Telegram @vlad_chernyak.

6. Your rights

You have the right to obtain a copy of your data, correct it, or request deletion or restriction of processing. Use the contacts in section 5 for this. If you are located in the European Union, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your country's data protection authority.

7. Children

The app is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from such users.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated through the app or on this page, with an updated effective date.
